I want to start by articulating four important things in my life rather than telling who Ebru Arıkan is.
What I have been doing so far and what ever I will be doing in the future are all clustering around these four important paradigms.
First paradigm is my passion for education which I have inherited from my dear father, İbrahim Arıkan. I was driven by his passion and this made me a keen and curios person who is constantly searching , exploring and sharing.
Obtaining my “pedagogical formation” was one of the first things that I have done upon returning to Turkey.
While establishing MEF School’s, I have participated in our science council an invaluable source for academic development. During and after the establishment, I have been part of the management team.
My second paradigm relates to health and well being. We are living in a perfectly balanced universe which is an invaluable gift for us all.
Preserving this great equation and witnessing people contributing to this mission is one of my dreams in life.
My third paradigm is a life in nature and of course outdoor sports. Sailing and scuba being my favorites, yoga and skydive also makes me feel free and serene. All my hobbies help me explore the whole and witness the greatness of all living things in their own habitat. These hobbies while leading to contentment, are also a reminder of our responsibilities to preserve the world. I would like to learn kitesurfing soon and hope learn to play golf in the future sometime.
My last but not least paradigm is art. As Atatürk said, “A society without art is missing one of its lifelines”. He states that art is as important a discipline as science. No society can transform without creativity and controversial dynamism of art. Neither science nor belief systems can be sufficient enough to transform societies. Without art, life surely be dull and incomplete . Nobody deserves such a life.
